Stainless Steel Bar Forming Performance

Stainless Steel Bar Forming performance

Stainless steel bar cold forming process is completely different from the low alloy steel and ordinary carbon steel, because the stainless steel bar strength is higher, harder, better plastic, faster processing and hardening, but also must maintain its inherent corrosion resistance performance. These features must require greater power, the wear tolerance of process equipment increases, the process needs to avoid surface contamination and corrosion resistance weakened.

The choice of stainless steel bar is usually based on the performance requirements of the specifications, such as corrosion resistance or heat resistance, strength, plastic and so on. The results of the hardening of stainless steel bars, and the subsequent effects on mechanical properties, play a critical role in the selection of stainless steel bars during forming.

Effect of cold working on mechanical properties:

The forming properties of the steel greatly depend on the rate at which the yield strength reaches the ultimate tensile strength at the time of cold working. The reduction between the yield strength and the ultimate tensile strength curve shows that the forming is limited. The reduction between the curves shows that most of the yield strength can be used all the time, and any further deformation can lead to rupture. On the other hand, the increase in the workability of the steel shows that the curve band does not converge, and in the case of the same cold working deformation, it has a very high plasticity and allows serious deformation during the forming process.
